Bloomsbury is London's university quarter, built around two free institutions: the British Museum and the British Library. The British Museum's permanent collection costs nothing to enter, though special exhibitions typically run £15-£25 and are worth booking ahead in summer. The British Library's exhibition galleries are also free, and its reading rooms sit a 10-minute walk from the museum.

Beyond these two, Bloomsbury is mostly quiet Georgian squares (Russell Square, Bedford Square) and University of London buildings rather than a district of standalone attractions, so most visitors treat it as a half-day stop rather than a full day out.
