Things to do in East London
East London covers a wider arc than the centre: Shoreditch and Brick Lane's street art and markets, Camden's canalside market, maritime Greenwich, Richmond-Kew-Hampton Court to the west, and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour at Leavesden.
Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Whitechapel are also where London's Jack the Ripper walking tours operate, tracing the unsolved 1888 Whitechapel murders through the same streets rather than staging them as spectacle.
A single Overground or Underground ticket, capped automatically on Oyster or contactless, reaches most of this in 20 to 40 minutes from central London; the Studio Tour needs a dedicated train plus shuttle from Watford Junction, closer to an hour each way. Columbia Road's flower market runs Sundays only, 8am to around 3pm.
