Things to do in Greenwich

Greenwich sits on the Thames about 30 minutes from central London by DLR from Bank, or roughly an hour by river boat from Westminster Pier, which is the slower but more scenic route.

The Royal Observatory marks the 0° meridian line, where visitors line up to stand with one foot in each hemisphere; entry to the meridian courtyard is free, though the observatory's paid exhibits run around £18-20 for adults.

The Old Royal Naval College and the Cutty Sark, the last surviving tea clipper, anchor the riverside below. Greenwich Park is open daily from 6am, and the observatory sits on a hill within it, so the walk up from the DLR station takes a good 15-20 minutes.
