Things to do in Westminster
Westminster is London's institutional core: the Houses of Parliament and the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), Westminster Abbey, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace all sit within a 15-minute walk of each other. Westminster Abbey charges around £30 for adults and gets busy fast, so book a timed entry slot online rather than queuing on the day.
The Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace is free to watch from the street, usually around 11am on published days, but that's different from touring the palace itself, which opens only for a few weeks in summer (late July to September) and costs roughly £35 and up.
Trafalgar Square and St James's Park are both a short walk further on, useful for tying the area together on foot.
